What is the FSK wireless protocol, and what is the advantages and disadvantages?

FSK is the abbreviation of Frequency Shift Keying

Advantages:

Strong anti-interference:
Low bit error rate, FSK can usually provide a low bit error rate, especially in a noisy environment, and its performance is relatively stable.

Simple implementation: The implementation of FSK modulators and demodulators is relatively simple, and usually does not require complex hardware or algorithms. This makes it widely used in many low-cost, low-power communication devices.

Suitable for broadband communications, especially when data needs to be transmitted over long distances, its signal stability and reliability make it a good choice.

Suitable for low-power devices, which makes it very practical in battery-powered devices that need to run for a long time, such as some wireless sensor networks or remote monitoring systems.

Disadvantages:

Low bandwidth efficiency, FSK needs to send different symbols on different frequencies, so compared with other modulation techniques, such as phase modulation (PSK) or orthogonal amplitude modulation (QAM), its bandwidth utilization is lower.

Adjacent channel interference: FSK signals are separated in frequency, but if multiple FSK signals are transmitted simultaneously in a close frequency range, they may interfere with each other, which makes it difficult for the receiving end to correctly demodulate the signal.

Not suitable for high-speed data transmission: FSK is generally not suitable for high-speed data transmission because frequency switching may be limited at high speeds, resulting in limited transmission rate.
Complexity: In some cases, implementing FSK modulators and demodulators may require more hardware or software complexity, especially when high-precision frequency control and adjustment are required.

Limited modulation efficiency: The data transmission rate of FSK modulation is limited by the frequency switching speed, so FSK may not be the best choice in some applications that require higher transmission rates.

Main applications:

Suitable for low-power devices, which makes it very practical in battery-powered devices that need to run for a long time, such as some wireless sensor networks or remote monitoring systems.
